Describe the magnet, the block you can press, and what your machines can hold. The calculator grinds through every legal way to get from one to the other and ranks them by yield, time, and cost per good part. It does the tedious part so you can argue about the interesting part.
The default process numbers are generic placeholders, not anyone's real shop data. Replace them with yours before trusting a single digit. Your processes and blocks can be saved to a shop file on your own computer and opened again next time; this site keeps no copy.
The calculator runs in your browser. Your magnet, your processes, your block library, and your results are never sent to me or to anyone else.
Your shop file is opened, not uploaded. The browser reads it into this tab’s memory, and it disappears when you close the tab. Nothing goes into cookies or browser storage. PDFs and shop files are built right here and saved straight to your computer.
Until you press Find routes, this page sends nothing. Each time you run a routing, it sends my server one empty notice. My server records:
I use this to see which organizations use the calculator, how heavily, and from where. I don’t sell or share it.
How long I keep it. Your IP address is deleted after 30 days. What remains is the time, the network, and the approximate place — no longer tied to an address — and that is deleted after 6 months. The clearing and the deleting both run every day, not on request.
To see or delete records tied to your address, email david@peculiarmaterials.com within those 30 days, while there is still an address to look them up by.
If you’d rather not be recorded, you have two options: turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, which I honour — the page still works and nothing is written down — or fill in every tab without running anything.
The page carries a security policy that lets it contact only this site, and the browser enforces it. Open your browser’s developer tools and watch the Network tab: while you work, you’ll see nothing, and each run adds a single empty request to /api/route-run.
Separately, when anyone arrives here from another website, my server adds one to a count of which site linked here, for example linkedin.com. That count has no IP address or identifier attached. My host, Cloudflare, handles every request the way any web host does.
