Sintered NdFeB magnets, sold as the NEOREC series, for traction motors in electrified vehicles, industrial equipment motors and wind power, together with ferrite magnets for small motors. TDK markets dysprosium-free grades and a grain boundary diffusion process it calls HAL, which it says sharply reduces heavy rare earth content compared with conventional production.

Narrative

TDK was founded in 1935 to commercialize ferrite and has made magnets since the FB1A ferrite material of 1959. Magnets sit inside its Magnetic Application Products segment alongside hard disk drive heads and suspension assemblies, so magnet-only revenue is not disclosed. In the year to March 2026 that segment reported JPY 262.9 billion of net sales, up 17.6 percent, and TDK stated that magnet sales rose on automotive demand while the magnet business's operating loss narrowed on quality and cost measures. Neodymium magnets are made at Narita in Chiba and at a Guangdong joint venture at Meizhou established in 2013; ferrite magnets are made in Shizuoka. TDK acquired Showa Denko's neodymium magnet alloy research business in 2018 and set up a magnet alloy subsidiary at Ganzhou, Jiangxi in 2019.
